No Pushing Allowed

Okay, we know how you value your privacy. We respect how you don't want to "make a fuss" about your military service. We get that! We don't want to make a fuss either! We understand and respect you and your service greatly! Thats why we have this blog....because we value you as a member of this community and we are interested in you, so we still want to hear your ideas, and even your experiences so please feel free to share your ideas or your story here at the blog and still remain anonymous. Of course, you will always be welcome to join us at the Coffee Break! But if you don't want to blow your cover, we understand!

Calling All Veterans in Sumpter

We have a large group of Veterans living up here in Sumpter that range from WWII to Present, Vietnam Vets, Disabled Vets, Retired Veterans. We should be proud of all Veterans whether they are retired or disabled, makes no differance. If you have been in the Military, you have served your country and that's all that matters. Anyone who served their country are Veterans. Certainly, we reserve a kind of elevated status for those that have been to war. But I have not found any Veterans yet that are proud they went to war. They are proud of the service to their country, of the hardships they endured while serving, but not for the killing. Noone wants to have to do that. So, stands to reason that anyone who served their country, whether during a war or peacetime, or were able to retire after a long career or a disability forced them to end their service early, they are Veterans. So, whether you are retired, disabled, old or young....and you live in Sumpter-we want to hear from you! Join us at the next Coffee Break!

Welcome to the Sumpter Veterans Blog

Veterans of all services, wars, and ages are gathering once a month in Sumpter, Oregon. We call it a Coffee Break. The friendly folks at the Scoop-N-Steamer provide the coffee, while the Veterans provide the talk. Everything is fair game except Politics. And most stories should at least "loosely resemble the truth" although all stories are welcomed. But the coffee isn't all that is hot during the Coffee Breaks. The Sumpter Veterans are discussing ways they can serve their community and right now a popular topic is cleaning up and maintaining the Sumpter Cemetary. Also on the agenda is a Memorial Day Ceremony so that folks are aware that there is much more reason for Memorial Day other than the Flea Market and and an extra day off. The Coffee Breaks are the first Wednesday of each month, down at the Scoop-N-Steamer at 0900. All Veterans are welcomed.
